KemptThe Yard Almanac

Preview your yard, replanted

See your yard designed, then keep it, tuned to your zone.

Point your phone at the corner you keep meaning to deal with. Kempt plants it for you, right there on a photo of your own yard, so you can move things around on screen instead of in the dirt. See it at dusk, see it in fall, then go dig. It sticks to what grows in your zone, and it says so when it is not sure. Free for two weeks, no card.

Season & time of day

What we asked

Turn this bare rock strip into a Japanese woodland shade garden: a bubbling stone fountain, a dry creek, ferns, and golden forest grass. Leave the stone wall, the bay window, and the old camellia exactly where they are.

That is all one real backyard, not stock photos. The house stays put; only the planting changes. Yours would too.

Zone 8a · sample

A sample of the almanac Kempt keeps for your yard. Yours stays current, tuned to your zone and today’s date.

This week

Mow tall, water deep

Set the deck to 3.5 to 4 inches so roots stay shaded through the heat. Water one inch early, before the afternoon breaks. One long soak beats three shallow ones.

turf · irrigation
This month

Feed the fruit, not the fescue

Cool-season turf is dormant-stressed, so skip the nitrogen. Sidedress the tomatoes and peppers, and sow a second round of bush beans for a September pick.

beds · timing
This season

Plan the overseed now

Mark mid-September for the fescue overseed while the soil is still warm and the nights cool. Order spring bulbs this month, while the good varieties are still in stock.

§ IIThe method

Plan, preview, remember

  1. Plan

Compose a project plan across the zones of your yard. Wish list the things you are still thinking about. Compare price tiers, not invented prices.

  2. Preview

See your bed replanted on your own photo. Drag the time of day to watch the shade move. Toggle the season to see what blooms when.

  3. Remember

A care calendar that knows your zone and what you did last spring. Honest plant ID and diagnosis when something looks off.

§ IIIField notes

Landscape design tuned to your hardiness zone

Tuned to your zone, not a US average
Care advice built from your zone and your yard's plants, not a fertilizer calendar averaged across the country.
Generated previews, not fragile AR
A photoreal picture of your finished bed that you can re-light and re-season, instead of an overlay that breaks when the light changes.
Honest when it is not sure
Low-confidence plant ID and diagnosis say so and never propose a treatment. No confident wrong answers.
No paywall before the wow
The first preview is not gated behind a card or a purchase. Start with a 14-day free trial, no credit card.
§ IVHouse rules

What we will not do

Structural commitments, not marketing lines. They are why the product is paid for by you and not by your attention.

  • No ads, ever

Not in the product, not in the emails, not in the notifications. Not from us, not from partners.

  • No data sales

Your data is yours. We use it to make your tools work. That is the only use it has.

  • No usage caps

Image credits refresh every month. Go over and you can buy more at near-cost. Purchased credits never expire.

  • Lifetime price freeze

The price you sign up at is the price you pay, for as long as you stay.

  • AI behind the user

AI helps you and your operator. It never speaks to anyone in someone else's voice.

  • One-tap cancel

No retention maze, no multi-screen funnel. Leave in one tap and take your data with you.

§ VQuestions

Common questions

Does Kempt use a photo of my actual yard?
Yes. You take a photo of the spot you want to change, and Kempt draws the new planting, the beds and shrubs and trees you are considering, straight onto that photo. You are looking at your own yard, finished, not a catalog.
Is the design specific to my hardiness zone?
Yes. Every design and every care task is tuned to your USDA hardiness zone and your local frost dates, not a national average.
Does Kempt tell me how to care for the yard after I plant it?
Yes. Kempt keeps a care calendar for your zone: what to do this week, this month, and this season, so the yard stays kept, not just designed.
Is it augmented reality?
No. It draws you a real picture you can re-light and move through the seasons, not a shaky overlay that slides off the lawn the moment you move your phone.
How much does Kempt cost?
We have not set final pricing yet, on purpose, so we do not quote a number we might have to walk back. Join early and you lock in a founding rate and a lifetime price freeze: the price you start at is the price you keep. No ads, and no card to try it.
